The Lightning Thief
By: Rick Riordan 4 Stars Genre: Fiction Adrian Salas 8th Grade "The Lightning Thief" by Rick Riordan is about this kid that has magical powers. In the beginning this kid Percy Jackson is finding out that he has powers. His goal is to get to the underworld. First, he has to go through a lot of training. Second, he had to fight a monster to save his mom. Third, he found out that his friend betrayed him. At the end he gets to the underworld. Therefore, hard work will lead to success. My opinion is the book was great. It had a lot of action in it, it was sad, and it was a pretty long book.

Good job, Adrian! Did you notice that Percy's learning difficulties became his strengths? He struggled to read English, but mastered ancient Greek with no problem! Just because Percy struggled with something doesn't mean he isn't smart. I am glad you liked this book! It's a great read.
