Alchemist
By: Paulo Coelho 4 Stars Genre: Fiction, Fantasy Brina Davis 8th Grade Alchemist by: Paulo Coelho, how a sheppard ends up finding treasure when he has given up hope. A young boy named Santiago finds an unexpected treasure, however he starts having reoccurring dreams about a treasure hidden far away in the ancient Pyramids of Egypt. The boy learns that you cant trust everyone when a boy who was friendly stole all his money in a foreign country; and to always follow your heart even when it seems your heart is wrong, like when he wasn't sure to listen to his heart about going to Egypt. After many nights and days questioning his personal legend, and what it truly is, he finds what he had searched for, and that following his heart was worth it in the long run. I feel that someone in look of a good read, that's very inspiring should read this book! This books vocabulary is hard, which is probably why I gave it a 4 not a 5, but all out it was a very good story. True Blue
By: Jane Smiley 4 Stars Genre: Fiction Hailey 8th Grade True Blue is about a horse who's name is True blue and it all starts with a girl and her family and one day they went to a friend's house and when they met blue he was happy and so they bought him for three dollars. The theme is how the girl and the horse connect to each other in like chapter 3 or 4. My opinion is the book was a four because it was kind of a ghost story at the same time it was a horse story so really had to pay attention to what you are reading and what was happening. He finds out the professor who is watching over them intends to use their powers for evil and all of the kids escape. The theme of “Michael Vey” is that power can corrupt people. By: Lisa Mcmann 4 Stars Genre: Fiction, Fantasy, Dystopian Chisum Massey 8th Grade “Island of Legends” is a book wrote by Lisa Mcmann and is about not leaving anyone behind.Alex gets a crew together to rescue Sky and Crow's mother ,Copper, from Pirate Island, a volcano that sinks and resurfaces every day. Alex and his crew reach the volcano just as it became active and sank into the ocean. They wait for it to resurface and continue with the rescue operation. The crew got it into their minds that they aren’t leaving this island without Copper. The active sinking volcano island may make the rescue effort take longer than hoped but it will not stop Alex and his crew from rescuing Copper. I rated the book the way I did because I like fantasies but there are some parts that i'm not going to talk about that could be better. I would reccomend this book to fans of the Hunger Games or Harry Potter. |
